Acres of Diamonds 💎

Yesterday I shared with you “the magic word” from Earl Nightingale’s audio program, Lead The Field (go look for the email if you missed it!).

And today I want to share a story with you from that audio program — it’s called Acres of Diamonds.

There was an African farmer who heard about other farmers who had made millions by discovering diamond mines.

He was so excited by these tales that he sold his farm to go prospecting for diamonds himself.

He spent the rest of his life wandering the African continent looking for diamonds… but never finding them.

Meanwhile the man who bought his farm was crossing a small stream on the property when he saw a glint of light from the stream bottom.

He bent down, picked up the stone, and put it on his mantel.

Later a visitor picked up the stone and gasped. He asked the farmer if he knew what it was and the farmer said, “No”. He had found one of the largest diamonds in all of Africa… and the stream on the property was absolutely full of diamonds.

In fact, that farm turned out to be the most productive diamond mine on the entire African continent.

But the original farmer got so swept up in his vision for how he’d achieve his dream… that he forgot to look in his own backyard for opportunities.
