There’s a story in Elsie Lincoln Benedict’s book about a man who struggles so much with concentrating at work that he thinks he’s going crazy.
On the surface everything is going great:
But…whenever the weather’s good he daydreams about giving it all up and completely changing his career.
And it’s an urge to be a mechanic!
His family think it’s a bad idea.
But Elsie Lincoln Benedict encourages the man.
In fact, focusing on things we naturally enjoy is one of the ‘rules’ in her chapter called “How to Let Your Subconscious Help You in Your Work”:
"Study yourself…and take advantage of all these ‘high tides’ that come within yourself."
And so the man starts attending an automobile school at night. Within a year he fully transitions from his white collar job at the bank to a blue collar job at the auto repair shop.
Eventually…he invents an oil regulator that makes him rich!
Now.
I know what you’re thinking.
“If only it were that simple for me, Russell… I’ve been one of those ‘crazy’ people who tried to follow their passion…and here I am years later still struggling!”
I’m not saying any of this is straightforward.
But just make a mental note of the three important points in this story:
Trust me.
If I didn’t believe that Elsie Lincoln Benedict is going to change your life…I wouldn’t have spent over $30,000 acquiring the full original collection of texts in which I found this story!
Tomorrow, I’m going to share some more of the 20 rules she has in this chapter on work.
Look out for the email!
Talk soon,
Russell
