The last couple days I’ve shared the first 9 “rungs” of Napoleon Hill’s “Magic Ladder to Success”.
In case you missed it, they were…
Go look at those posts if you missed ‘em! They include quotes and practical tips :)
Go here for rungs #1 - #5
Go here for rungs #6 - #9
Because today I want to share rungs #10 - #13 with you.
Remember — Napoleon Hill wrote this book originally in 1921 and it’s one of his most powerful books of all time.
You can get the PDF I created here.
And you can watch my full breakdown here (about 20 minutes).
Rung #10 — Accurate Thought
This is one that most of the world really struggles with. Whenever they hear information, they think it’s the truth. But not all things that are said… are true. To be successful, it’s so important to not just react to information… but to take the time to test opinions and really think things through.
→ Don’t Immediately React To Hype
→ Run More Tests
→ Act Like a Scientist and Test Your Own Opinions
Quote: “Accurate thinkers permit no one to do their thinking for them. Gather information and listen to the opinions of others, but reserve for yourself the privilege of making decisions.”
Rung #11 — Concentration
Oh man. This is a tough one in today’s world because we’re constantly distracted by Netflix and our phones… but concentration is critical for success. You have to be able to focus long enough to achieve your goals.
→ Turn Off Notifications
→ Wake Up Earlier For Deep Work
Quote: “Concentration requires a definiteness of purpose in such proportion that it becomes an obsession. There's no use of having a motive unless you put obsession of desire or obsession of purpose in back of it.”
Rung #12 — Persistency
A lot of people think of success as setting a goal… and then achieving it. But that’s rarely how it works. More often… it requires several failed pursuits before you finally stumble upon something that works. That’s what persistency is about. Staying committed not just to this attempt… but to future attempts if this one fails.
→ Don’t Think About Your Journey as a Single Pursuit… but As Many Pursuits That Will Ultimately Lead to Success
Quote: “Persistence is to the character of man as carbon is to steel.”
Rung #13 — Failure
You probably didn’t expect to see this on the “ladder to success”. But failure has been critical to my own success… and it’ll be critical to yours, too. Because every single failure in your life presents an opportunity for learning and growth that you wouldn’t get otherwise.
→ Document Your Failures
→ Consider What You’ve Learned From Past Failures
→ Think of Each Failure as a Step That Takes You Closer to Your Goal… If You Learn From It
Quote: “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
…
Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s email where I’ll share the final rungs of #14 - #16 with you — the last of which is the MOST important.
