The HARDEST Part… 😥

What do you want?

It might seem like an easy question to answer… but it’s actually really hard.

Most people don’t know what they want. They might say they want more money… or to be more fit… or to be more successful…

But that’s not specific enough.

(Not if you actually want those things, at least!)

Robert Collier puts it like this in The Secret of The Ages: "Whatever it is, you can have it. Whatever you desire wholeheartedly, with singleness of purpose — you can have."

Notice that?

“With singleness of purpose.”

​In other words, you can have anything you want… but you can’t have everything. Because to get what you want… you need a specific, singular focus.

"The people who live in beautiful homes, who have plenty to spend, who travel about in yachts and fine cars, are for the most part people who started out to accomplish some one definite thing. They had one clear goal in mind, and everything they did centered on that goal."

And the NUMBER ONE reason people don’t get what they want… is because they don’t actually know what they want.

Here’s Collier again…

"It may sound paradoxical, but few people do know what they want. Most of them struggle along in a vague sort of way, hoping — like Micawber — for something to turn up. They are so taken up with the struggle that they have forgotten — if they ever knew — what it is they are struggling for. They are like a drowning man—they use up many times the energy it would take to get them somewhere, but they fritter it away in aimless struggles-without thought, without direction, exhausting themselves, while getting nowhere."

So what should you do?

Become a dreamer!

Create a routine of thinking deeply and specifically about the things you want — write them down, draw them out, imagine how you’d get there and what it’d be like.

Create a notebook with your vision for the future. Review it every day. Edit it as that vision changes.

In the words of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam: "You have to dream before your dreams can come true."

And the more specifically you dream… the better. 🙂
