About the Book

"Power Through Constructive Thinking" is a compelling guide to the mental and spiritual laws that govern success and well-being. Fox delivers clear and impactful lessons on reprogramming thoughts to align life with truth and divine order.

Summary

This book explores how disciplined, positive, and constructive thought harnesses genuine spiritual power. Main concepts involve:

  • Thoughts Are Creative, Spiritual Forces: Your thoughts are spiritually charged forces that attract experiences into your life. Thinking constructively is a moral and spiritual responsibility.
  • Your Mental Habits Shape Your Destiny: Repeated patterns of thinking, whether faith-filled or fear-driven, eventually become your reality. Change your habitual thoughts, and you can change your life.
  • Spiritual Principles Solve Practical Problems: From anxiety and failure to resentment and fear, Fox presents spiritual solutions grounded in forgiveness, affirmation, and truth. Each chapter is like a mini-sermon, showing how metaphysical understanding can dissolve real-life challenges.
  • God's Indwelling Presence: Divine power lives in every person. Recognizing and aligning with the "God within" allows you to express wisdom, strength, and peace that transcend external conditions.
  • The Act of Mental Substitution: Rather than struggling against negative thoughts, replace them with higher ones. You can't banish darkness by fighting it, only by bringing in light. Such "constructive thinking" is an act of mental substitution, not suppression.
  • The Power in Forgiving and Releasing: Resentment blocks your spiritual power. Forgiveness is both a spiritual and psychological necessity. Forgiving frees you from bitterness, restoring harmony and flow.
  • Faith as a Creative Force: Faith is not a passive belief, but an active confidence in divine law. When you hold to truth despite appearances, your faith becomes the mechanism through which constructive thought manifests.
  • The Law of Mental Cause and Effect: Every thought is a cause that produces a corresponding effect. What you think, you ultimately experience. Understanding this mental law gives you both freedom and responsibility.
  • Love Transforms: More than a sentiment, love is a universal healing force. Thinking and acting with love harmonizes your environment, dissolves fear, and draws divine energy into action.
  • The Need for Practice and Consistency: Constructive thinking is a daily discipline, not a one-time revelation. Practice truth-thinking steadily until it becomes second nature, transforming both your consciousness and character.

Reader Reviews
I am 49 years old, and I have been actively on a spiritual path for 19 years. In that time, I have read dozens upon dozens of spiritual books from all faiths, including New Age. Consequently, I have been exposed to some phenomenal wisdom. However, as I was reading Emmet Fox's book, I was acutely aware that this book was easily the most powerful book I had ever read. The evidence of its transformative power was palpable to me. To say that I highly recommend this book doesn't come close to the way I feel. I believe that a spiritual seeker who reads this book with an open mind and applies its wisdom will find he/she has access to a spiritual tool that can literally change his/her life in miraculous ways.

My son died just a few months ago. This is where I began my search to understand, to find answers, and to reunite with my spiritual self because I was so disconnected and lost. This book has guided me on a journey of forgiveness. In forgiving others (I was in great denial that I judged others) and I found forgiveness for my own self. Is it an easy path, no, but this book has helped me to find the meanings to the many questions I have always had.

I am still in the grieving process, but I have found a strength in my journey, and this book was my stepping stone. I plan on reading other books by this author.

Emmet Fox interprets the Bible in a way that is useful to people today. I had given up reading the Bible out of frustration with my own literal interpretation. Emmet Fox was the first one I found who offered an interpretation that resonated with my own inner feeling of what must be true. I have been happy to be able to read the Bible again and to understand it on a deeper level. I have tried to put his teachings into practice for about ten years now and have seem many miraculous changes. I still read him every day!

One of the most important books you'll ever read. If you're ready to make a radical change in your thinking and move forward to a better life, this one's for you. Don't rush through it. Afford yourself the luxury of understanding every word. Read it again and relish the results. The fact that it was written 80 years ago should not deter you. The lessons are more relevant today than ever.

Emmet Fox, a New Thought Spiritual Leader of the early 20th century links spirituality and biblical principles to success. Pioneer in the field, he spoke to audiences of thousands in churches and Carnegie Hall. His teachings explain the actual meaning of biblical passages and how to apply them in order to live a successful, happy life. Not the "same-old self-help babble", but unique in every way.

My favorite of all his books. It has been instrumental in opening my heart and has taught me that I can "demonstrate" anything I want in my life. That I am what I think and that when I raise my consciousness around a difficulty the problem fades away. I am responsible for EVERYTHING in my life.

One of the best, if not the best, spiritually motivating books I have had the privilege to read. I recommend it to anyone interested in being happier and more fulfilled in their life. It will forever change the quality of my life for the better. Thank God for Emmet Fox!

This book makes sense of much of the archaic language of the King James version of the Holy Bible and translates it into actionable steps. While this is Christian-focused, the principles of the New Thought Movement for practical application in our lives come through loud and clear. Those who can read this with an open mind will find they are able to use the techniques for building a better life with skill and ease.
