“Don't worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try.”
This book transformed my life. It took me a full year to read (I did read several other books within the same timeframe), I read the first section of it with my work team, did all of the homework or suggested activities within, attended some seminars by the Canfield Training Group, and lastly invested in becoming a trainer of the curriculum because I connected so well with the concepts presented.
I have been teaching leadership principles within a university setting for almost 20 years. This book adds to that knowledge, as well as brings about several exercises to shift from unconscious to conscious brain activity that I really needed in my life for my own progression. I plan to read this book annually, as it has so much information in it that it is worthy of additional time and study. I had my first copy cut and spiral-bound so that I can spend more time on individual pages, treating the book more like a manual. I often find myself referencing the book and have shared much of its teachings in all arenas of my life.
In my library of hundreds of business books, this one has been placed on my top 5 list. I am so grateful for all it has done to increase my productivity, improve my relationships, accomplish more with less, change my paradigms about asking for what I need, spur me to take a much stronger conscious approach to money management, and the list goes on.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is open to learning, open to diving deep into oneself, and anyone who is willing to take complete responsibility for one's own life, one's own success, and one's own ability to let go of the past to rewrite a new future. This book has very practical, easy-to-carry-out activities and projects to radically improve one's life.
Lastly, I recommend reading this book with others with whom you can share your progress. Coming together in our work team to read and discuss was so helpful as we shared our a-ha moments, our lists, our completed assignments, like our have's, do's, and be's list and goal binder. We had a vision board party where we each created ours and then presented it to each other. Many awesome things started to manifest after putting those boards together, and we could celebrate those things with each other. Reading this book together created a strong bond with that team. As the year progressed, our schedules made it more challenging to read it together, so we decided to finish it individually. But we learned that we missed the group learning, so we will soon start up again together as a group with an altered format of presenting the chapters to one another instead of actually reading and discussing together. (We would come together on our lunch hour to read along in our books with the CD of the book, pausing it often to discuss)
Individually, I would listen to the book while commuting for 60 minutes every day. I would then review key things I would hear at night before bed. It was bittersweet when I finished it last night. I truly did not want the book to end, yet I was so excited to check off a goal of completing the book by Nov 1st. This book has truly made a significant positive impact on my life. It was well worth my time and money.
Many of us are looking for ways to improve our lives, our relationships, and our business. We read books, take training, and hire coaches. And these things work.
Whether you are new in your quest for self-improvement or a seasoned veteran, the Success Principles is one of the "must-read" handbooks you want to read, apply, and keep at your side. It contains 67 principles described in a concise, simple to understand entertaining way. Each of these principles by itself is certain to bring positive change in different aspects of your life. As a group, they are certain to move your life forward.
You will learn how to improve your relationships by listening and asking for feedback. You will learn to focus on those things that truly matter and let go of the good to leave time and resources for the great. You will learn ways to take care of yourself, put yourself in touch with your thoughts and your emotions, and slow your mind down so that you can be creative, concentrate, and work more effectively. You will learn ways to communicate with others, to tap into "masterminds", to ask for what you need, to overcome resistance, obstacles, and fears, and to move forward.
I am a fan of the Success Principles and Jack Canfield's work. Everything contained in this book is taught in his seminars. Powerful yet simple techniques.
Buy the book. Read it. And then, every few days, concentrate on bringing one of the principles into your life. Sit back and enjoy the results.
Never before have I read a book and then purchased a copy for all of my friends, until this book. I have re-read it several times and always take away new information. It is so basic and yet so life-changing if you follow the steps.
Despite the fact that it is super long, it is easy to read. What's nice is you can skip around picking out what topics you need, or read it all at once from front to back. It gives a lot of great true stories as examples, which I appreciate.
I am a therapist and recommend this book to all of my clients who feel like they are stuck.
There are many books that can give you the kernel of motivation that could change everything about your life. This book has been that for me and others. If I were to create a course in personal success and accomplishing life goals, this would be required reading.
This is a brilliant place to start if you’re trying to find your footing or make a positive change in your life or career. Following even one or two principles from this book will empower you in incredible ways.
This should be on every bookshelf in every home and every business on the planet.
This book is a goldmine of actionable advice for anyone who wants to level up their life. Jack Canfield lays out 67 principles of success that cover everything from setting clear goals to building better habits and staying motivated. It’s packed with practical tips, real-life stories, and strategies that make you feel like success is not just possible—it’s achievable.
One of the standout ideas is taking 100% responsibility for your life. It’s a simple but powerful reminder that blaming others or waiting for the "right time" won’t get you anywhere. Canfield emphasizes the importance of getting clear on your goals, visualizing them daily, and breaking them into actionable steps.
The book is also filled with tools to help you stay consistent. From creating vision boards to mastering time management, Canfield gives you the strategies to keep moving forward even when life gets tough. His positive, conversational tone makes the book an inspiring and easy read.
That said, the sheer number of principles can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re trying to implement everything at once. My advice? Pick a few that resonate most with you and start there—you’ll see progress without feeling overloaded.
If you’re ready to take control of your future and work toward your biggest goals, The Success Principles is a must-read. It’s like having a personal coach guiding you every step of the way. Highly recommend for anyone who’s serious about personal growth and success!
