Summary

The book helps business owners learn how to manage their time more effectively and prioritize tasks to achieve their goals. His key points are:

1. Time Management:

  • Focus on Results, Not Activity. Don’t just stay busy; focus on tasks that directly contribute to your goals and bottom line.
  • Eliminate Distractions. Identify and eliminate or minimize distractions that hamper productivity, such as unnecessary meetings, social media, and excessive emails.

2. Prioritization and Planning:

  • Prioritize High-Impact Tasks. Use techniques like the Eisenhower Matrix to distinguish between urgent and vital tasks, focusing on duties that significantly impact your business.
  • Set Clear Goals. Establish specific, measurable goals and create actionable plans. Break down large projects into smaller, manageable ones.

3. Scheduling:

  • Time Block. Allocate certain types of work to specific blocks of time. Create periods for strategic thinking, client work, and personal time.
  • Use a Master Schedule. Develop a comprehensive schedule that outlines daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and deadlines.

4. Delegating and Outsourcing:

  • Delegate. Assign tasks to others to free up your time for more critical activities.
  • Outsource. Use assistants or specialized services as needed.

5. Productivity Techniques:

  • Adopt Efficient Work Habits. Establish productivity measures such as batching similar tasks, using checklists, and employing the Pomodoro Technique.
  • Avoid Perfectionism. Get tasks done rather than striving for perfection, which can lead to procrastination and inefficiency.

6. Time Tracking and Assessment:

  • Track Your Time. Record how you spend your time, looking for patterns and areas for improvement. Adjust your strategies based on this analysis.
  • Regular Reviews. Review your progress and productivity strategies, adjusting as necessary to align with your goals.

7. Mindset and Discipline:

  • Develop Discipline. Become self-disciplined and proactive. Stay committed to your time management plan and resist the temptation to procrastinate.
  • Create a Productive Environment. Create a workspace that makes focus and efficiency easier. Establish routines that enhance your productivity.

Reader Reviews
Let me start by saying that I am fairly new to the entrepreneurial world and am trying to learn things and apply them to my business. One of my greatest frustrations is when reading a book, the author dances all around the topic but never seems to get to the heart of what the book is about. This is not the case with Dan Kennedy's writing! This book is a group of seven No B.S. books, this being the first one I read. I already have the next one sitting on my shelf and have plans to collect all seven. Now, if you are a reader who is easily offended or enjoys the niceness of other authors and don't want to really get into specific time solutions that perhaps you are making but enjoy doing with no intention of changing, then this is not a book for you. But if you are ready to move forward, I would recommend this book. It's full of workable ideas and suggestions that make sense and help you to see that your time can be your money.

This is by far the best "hands-on" tools book I've read on time management. Most time management books give you guidelines, rules, and tools that you never use-- relying on a detailed multi-level guideline-- and I'm just not wired that way. As a result of the many years of reading these books, I lowered my confidence in believing I was not a functional business person. This book, however, shows you how-- precisely-- we rob ourselves of time-- our most valuable asset. To waste time is the waste life, and Dan Kennedy homes in on all the ways we waste life through choosing "time vampires" that drink the life right out of us. A HUGE eye-opener for anyone serious about transforming their life through the value of time, energy, and PROFIT. Before reading this book, I felt I had a "high regard" for my time, but I found more than 10 crucial points that made me clearly see and realize how much time, energy, and money I wasted. Now I'm able to know in the first contact, situation, or new business relationship whether or not it's worth the "time" investment. This book made me really look at myself and all the "time management mistakes" I made-- not easy to do, but if you're serious about taking self-responsibility and becoming a self-actualizing success, this is A MUST READ!

How much of your day is actually spent in productive work? Not the time you spend in your office staring at the computer screen, on the phone, checking your email, or dealing with the umpteenth question from that employee that always seems to need just another minute of your time. Productive time is the time you are actually earning money by directly working on a project.

No BS Time Management for Entrepreneurs explains that it's those little irritants and side tasks that only take a few minutes of your time that gradually and progressively eat away your precious time. Therefore, the only real way to make productive use of your time is to limit these distracters and focus on the real work at hand.

Though I had already realized a good deal of my own distracters and time eaters before I read this book, No BS Time Management for Entrepreneurs made me realize exactly how limiting these behaviours really are and how much more productive I could become. I don't have to limit sleep to a few hours a night. I just have to realize the value of my time and react appropriately.

What makes Dan Kennedy's advice on time management so compelling is his personal output. Each month, he churns out several niche newsletters, and he usually has at least one book a year. Most interesting, he does these things on his terms.

As this book is about time management for entrepreneurs, the first thing he does is get you to work out your true worth per hour. This figure is different than what you find in other books because Kennedy knows that no one works eight productive hours in a day. From there, he teaches you how to eliminate distractions and propel yourself toward peak productivity, where fifty percent or more of your time is spent working toward your goals.

I've already implemented some of Kennedy's ideas, and over the coming weeks and months, I will embrace more of them. I can see how and why they work. I now have a way of working that gives me a clear number to use to measure my success.

Perhaps, one day, people will come to me and ask how I achieve as much as I do.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best "management" books I have ever read, and I have read quite a few over the years. This one contains some excellent advice about how to avoid time wasters, "vampires", and how to really get things done. The style is easy to read, funny, and practical. I learned more from this book than I did from the days of courses. I re-read it almost every year, and I have given it to many other people. Buy it, read it, and most importantly, use this advice. You will get more out of your time at work and, most probably, your whole life.

I LOVE anything Dan Kennedy has to say. Being a business owner and a single mother of 3 children, I often struggle with prioritizing what to do next and finding the time to do it.

Putting to practice these methods has been a lifesaver for me. I am feeling MUCH less stress and am accomplishing MUCH more than I did before.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who feels like they don't have enough time in their day to accomplish what they want or need to. If I had read this book 6 years ago when I started my own business, I would be years ahead of where I am now.

This book literally changed my life! Before this, I always struggled with being on time for appointments and events. And to be quite honest, I still do. LOL. The thing that I have learned from this book, however, is to think differently and think bigger. This book introduced me to the world of Dan Kennedy. Once you grasp the way Dan Kennedy thinks, you will never be the same. I highly recommend this book for any business person or any ambitious person with dreams and goals who is serious about achieving them.

Time... the most valuable asset we have. Dan Kennedy does a great job of calling us out, giving great tips and hacks, and being motivational to really maximize effectiveness. I have read so many books by Dan, and this is really an amazingly valuable guide. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially a younger person. They don't realize how valuable an asset they have, time.
